Putnam Township
Putnam township was organized on May 23, 1836 and included present day Marion Township. Marion Township was
separated from Putnam township on March 11, 1837. The first land entry occurred in 1828 and was the first in what was to become
Livingston County. Two or three entries were made. No more entries occurred until 1831. Putnam is bounded on the west by Unadilla
Township, on the north by Marion Township, the east by Hamburg Township, and on the south by Webster Township of Washtenaw County.
