Howell Township

Howell township was organized March 23, 1836. The name Howell was taken from the name of the village. The Village of Howell had been platted about a year and a hlf earlier. The original township included present day Oceola, Deerfield, Cohoctah, Conway,and Handy townships. By 1859, surveys referenced Howell township as Township 3 North, Range 4 East. Howell township is bounded on the west by Handy, the north by Cohoctah, the east by Oceola, and the south by Marion. The first land entry was made by Orman Coe of Genesee County, New York on May 20, 1833. Learn more about Howell Township.
