Postcards

The postcards on this page were graciously donated by Kernie King. Thank you, Kernie. These digital images are for your personal use only. Any other use requires the consent of the contributor, Kernie King, prior to their usage.

These postcard images are divided into four groupings: HOWELL BUILDINGS, HOWELL CHURCHES, HOWELL SCHOOLS and the STATE SANATORIUM. The buildings, churches and schools were all within the city. Some have survived; some have not. The State Sanatorium for tuberculosis was located about 3 miles southwest of Howell off Mason Road. The state alloted $30,000 in 1905 for the building of a State Sanatorium for the treatment of tuberculosis. The first patient was admitted on September 10, 1907. It closed as a sanatorium in 1957. The buildings are no longer in existence.
