Revolutionary War Soldiers

There are eight Revolutionary War soldiers known to be buried in Livingston county. All of these graves have been marked by the Philip Livingston Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution. Claudius Britton Sr b 15 Sep 1761 CT; d 22 Feb 1850 MI and is buried in the Pinckney Cemetery. He served from VT as a Scout for Capt Zadoc(t) Averis(t). His son Claudius served in the War of 1812. Grave Marking: 1950 Lemuel Monroe b 1 Mar 1759 MA; d 27 Apr 1854 MI and is buried in Lake Cemetery in Marion township. He served as a private from MA and was pensioned. The names of his first two wives are unknown. His third wife was Martha Rollins. Grave Marking: 1922
Willard Church b 7 Sep 1758 CT; d 17 Sep 1846 MI and is buried in the Hodge Cemetery, Hartland Township. He served from Ct as a private and seaman. His wife was Sally (Sarah) Davis. Grave Marking: date unknown Ephraim Smith b 24 Sep 1740 ; d 7 Oct 1839 MI is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Howell. He served from CT as a private. His wife was Abby Higgins. Grave Marking: 1930
Jonathan Cooke b 7 Aug 1754 NY; d 5 Oct 1837 MI and is buried in Lakeview Cemetery, Howell. He served from NY as a corporal and was pensioned. His wives were (1) Eunice Chappel and (2) Eunice Kruger. Grave Marking: 1922  
Elijah Goodspeed is buried in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery (also known as Beach Cemetery) in Brighton township. Grave Marking: 1927 Jacob Ward b 11 Jan 1756 CT; d 12 Nov 1843 MI and is buried in Munsell Cemetery in Iosco township. He served from CT as a private and was pensioned. His wife was Mary Kibby.
