1850-1870 Marriages

The 1850-1870 marriages were abstracted from Livingston County, Volumes 2, 3 and 3a Marriage Books. All of volumes 2 and 3 and a small portion of 3a were abstracted. The volumes can be found in the County Clerk's Office, Livingston County Courthouse, 200 E Grand River, Howell, Michigan, 48843. The clerk's office can be reached by telephone at 517-546-0500. The The volumes are also available on microfilm through a Family History Center. Volume 1: FHL US/Can Film 1005437 Volume 3 and 3a: FHL US/Can Film 1005438. Volume 3a begins the recording of marriages in columnar style.

Information was not always complete. Information was not always legible. Spellings were kept to the spelling in the volume. A few marriages were found to be recorded more than once, sometimes in different volumes. Sometimes the names were spelled differently. Most of the time only the town or township was given. When the resident resided outside of Livingston County, the town, county and state, in whole or in part were given. --- represents missing or illegible information; JP, Justice of the Peace; Rev, minister; MM/DD/YYYY, marriage date format; and 2 letter abbreviation for states.
